Apsley Village and Changes |
|
Apsley village has never been a picturesque place. It owed its existence to the A41,
an old coaching road to London and the location of industries by the canal. Over the
years the village has undergone considerable changes. At one time a number
of small shops existed, where one could buy basic food supplies.
Since the decline of the main industries, superstores have set-up on land left vacant
and new housing replaced some derelict old cottages.

The housing development along the canal was the beginning of major changes
and an improvement to the area generally. It was only a matter of time, before
land the other side of the railway lines would be considered for housing.
See development plans at the link -
Manor Estate Development Brief.
The area offers considerable open spaces, public right of way walks and woodland.
I've taken pictures of the greensite, the roads and streets which will
be affected by the planned development and have linked them to a map of the area.
